We were hired to renovate this unique mid-century modern home in Houston's Garden Oaks neighborhood. The previous owner had made many updates over time that had darkened and cluttered the space. It was the client's desire to open up the floor plan and reconcile the interior with a contemporary take on midcentury design.

Exterior Elevation
A truly unique, flat-roofed midcentury modern in Houston's Garden Oaks neighborhood.
Entry
We used a large section of left over Carrera marble from the countertop fabrication as an accent piece in the main entry hall. You can also see into the formal dining room beyond where DWR lights were selected to add accent light without clutter. The original pebbled concrete floors were refinished and sealed.
Den
Den
Built-ins were specified to house the client's extensive literature collection.
Kitchen and Den beyond
A view from the kitchen into the adjacent den.
Kitchen Cabinets
The client specified the use of Ikea cabinets to get a high-end gloss finish without the enormous price tag. We were able to build out the space and combine prefab ikea boxes in a manner that created a truly seamless, built-in appearance.
Kitchen
Another large piece of Carrera marble was used as the backsplash behind the Bertazzoni range.
Kitchen Detail
Subway tile was utilized throughout the kitchen to create a clean and timeless look without pushing the budget overboard.
